Ending notes!!!

The title inspired from a show which used to appear in a Malayalam channel years back. The only serial I used to wait for just for the title track and then just get lost in the very feel of it. ‘Shamanathalam’ , directed by the much respected and talented one, Shyamaprasad Sir, was not just any other serial. It had this so close to life feel.. soul stirring music and BGM..

How I wish everyone could understand ‘Malayalam’ as a language just to understand the depth and intensity of this song and the out of the world lyrics. But music speaks this universal language which every soul can comprehend.. One song that captures the various seasons of your heart. Chithra chechi’s best non film song anytime. If not for Manu aka Chai D Celeb I would not have been reminded of this fantabulous song after so many years. Thanks a trillion Manu and thanks to those amazing memories.. Have been listening to this nonstop for almost four days now and still can't get enough of it...serene..divine..haunting..that is 'Manveenayil' for you...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM42tTVLciU

The whole flow of the song just makes it stand out from the rest of the many million songs that we hear and forget. There is not much jazz. Just the right amount of BGM that is required where the song and the lyrics are given priority and not the kind of magic ‘software’ plays these days.

One song which will bring you back to those memories which you would have believed that you have actually let go off.. but still are residing somewhere in the unknown depths of your soul..It actually feels like getting up from a long deep sleep and you still find yourself at a place from where you had once ‘moved on’..But when you try touching that reality once again you kind of realize that it was again nothing but just a dream..
“The tender word forgotten, The letter you did not write.. What moves me about? Perhaps this is our strange and haunting paradox..that we are fixed and certain only when we are in movement”

Celebration of motherhood!!!!

It is perhaps one of the most beautiful feelings in the world. It is a feeling that can only truly be understood by those that experience it…Someone once said.. “When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child…”

Started getting this feeling exactly a year before when I first saw her pitter patter her ways into my life. I felt so content…felt that.. well..now there is something that I have to take care of..pamper..nurture and see growing up…It has been said that we need just three things in life.. Something to do, something to look forward to and someone to love

One year went like one second…and today when I look back I have a lot of memories associated with her…more memories than I was a thousand year old…some awesome ones..some good ones…some not so good ones…but I hold each and every one of those so close to my heart.

It was a fantabulous journey and I am looking forward to many more years of growing up with her…Happy Birthday to you!! Yes Serenity is an year old today (28th March) and I am just feeling time and again like a mixed fruit jam…lol. Just would want to say a BIG thanks to all of you out there who have been bearing with my loud thinking all this while.. Thanks a trillion…

I have known that words can never replace feelings….

Let there be rain!!!!

When you close your eyes and listen….drops of rain do speak volumes. I have always been madly in love with rain… It just feels awesome how it washes the dust of everyday life and how it breathes new life in to everything and everyone. It freshens up your spirit and the rain drops seem to play a sweet refrain. It paints a lot of amazing pictures in your mind…

It is no surprise to me that hardly anyone tells the truth about how they feel. But there is an element of surprise to it…..like summer rains… It is a beautiful creation. Kind of brings out the mystery in you and me. Some songs and some people are like summer rain. They come into your life when you least expect them.

Like Tagore once said….“That I exist is a perpetual surprise which is life…”And I always have felt that the best things in life are always unexpected… for almost all the best things that came into my life were unexpected. And I believe that you will truly understand the essence of life when you allow the unexpected to happen…

This one song will fall into your life like those first few drops of rain.. The Tamil movie “May Maadham” was well made and all the songs were much talked about. But of all, “Yenmel Vizhunda” stands out just because of the very freshness it brings along with it and the very same volumes it speaks through the magnificent lyrics.

“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops… I am no Poet here; my pen's the spout where the rain water of my eyes run out.”

Off the track!!!!

Have heard a lot of songs which didn’t get the attention they deserved, and were kind of disappointing because of the way they have been shot. It is really unfortunate that the wow music and lyrics is seen as just another song. But yes… it did hit my senses hard. I then learnt the art of listening to the song alone and seeing through the video (with the logic ‘Ignorance is bliss’)

How I wish these ‘off track’ ones were visual wise well done. This post is simply for picking and choosing a few such songs and a dedication for ones who went ‘off the track’ knowingly or unknowingly and ended up in a different destination. “When all's said and done, all roads lead to the same end. So it's not so much which road you take, as how you take it..” so very true!
‘Swasame’ from the Tamil movie ‘Thenali’
This amazing composition from none other than ARR got its soul in SPB’s and Sadhana Sargam’s divine voices. But, can kind of justify the picturization, taking into consideration the fact that, the movie was a Comedy and yes Vijay Pa’s lyrics stands out.

‘Ini naanum naanille’ from the Tamil movie ‘ Hey nee romba azhaga irukken’
Still can’t’ believe I actually watched this nonsensical movie over a dozen times just and just for the music. The album was remarkable in way that it had about five composers. Srinivas Sir and Sujatha are as astounding as always.

‘Malargale’ from the Tamil movie ‘Love Birds’
Another magical track from ARR, this song has always been in the all time favourites chart. Chithra chechi is my nightingale, my God mother and all that. Hariharan sir’s voice compliments the entire feel of the song. Can’t begin to compliment the fantabulous lyrics
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5Eki8yqOTs

These are the ones that just came to mind first. The list goes on, but as long as it is music..we listen…. :) :) :) :)

“I seldom end up where I wanted to go.. but I almost always end up where I need to be..”

Touch of breeze!!!!!

Some songs make you forget everything. It breathes new life into you. Some people have this magic in their voices. Hariharan ji has always amazed me with his soothing and charismatic voice. God has taken extra care while creating such souls. I would have missed this one royally till I got reminded of this song again by a thoughtful someone today.

1947 Earth was a much discussed well acclaimed movie. The songs I believe didn’t get the attention that they deserved. And am kind of feeling bad about the fact that despite of having almost all good collections of ARR .I just missed out on this one. But yes, atleast now. Lyrics is one thing which can’t be missed. Javed Akthar Sahab has always wowed us all with his just so close to life lyrics. Rejuvenating…so full of life…

Another remarkable musical score by ARR that has meaningful and powerful poetry, the nine astounding tracks in the album will just take you places and make you feel that Life aint all that bad at the end of it . It has that tint of vibrant notes which makes it soulful and reassuring. This one goes out to the thoughtful someone and the angel without wings but has a doubt of hallow..lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwXdRxuOEQM&NR=1

Something in the song will just ask you to approach each day with zest…to love..to laugh and to live.. “No Winter lasts forever…no Spring skips its turn…And even Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower” that just says it all. It is a gentle breeze which will keep up a kind of daylight in your mind, filling it with a steady and perpetual serenity.

“I seldom think about my limitations, and they never make me sad. Perhaps there is just a touch of yearning at times; but it is vague, like a breeze among flowers...and with that breeze drying the tears in my cheeks I think about the gentle breeze in my life..”

One day for being ‘HER’!!!!!!!!!

It was only when one of my friends messaged me HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY did I realize that one Sunday when I was practically doing nothing but just diving deep into songs and a lot more of it was actually ‘one’ day to celebrate womanhood. The realization sunk in with many more messages..newspapers writing about so many of them..famous..not so famous..and a whole bunch out there who suddenly are glorified Ok..let me not sound like a feminist and say why only one day and all that..lol

The intention behind this post is simple..It is very very personal and just could not help writing it. ..lol..Just wanted to tell three wonderful women I know that they are way too special in a million unique ways. Rachi aka my angel from heaven, Tintu aka my VH1 and F.R.I.E.N.D.S freak, Sonia aka my best bully, confidant and my confession box. So.. my Women’s day eve was with them and was just very special.. (and am still smiling…)

Angels do exist. My angel has no wings but yes I doubt there is a hallow somewhere. “When angels visit us, we do not hear the rustle of wings, nor feel the feathery touch of the breast of a dove; but we know their presence by the love they spread in our hearts…” someone coined it right. I can feel it too..Rachi.. you are a wonderful sis. an amazing daughter and just the BEST wifey… an all rounder.. I look up to you for all that you are (but I still envy your eyes…lol) “For there is no friend like a sister, in calm or stormy weather, to cheer one on the tedious way, to fetch one if one goes astray, to lift one if one totters down, to strengthen whilst one stands…” and this is just you… love you so very much

Sipping my boring cappuccino (thanks to my messed up throat..sighhhh) and talking about almost everything under the sun, time and again I get reminded of the fact that these guys are just amazing. The best roomies I have ever had. Tintu and Sonia. I still wonder with my eyes wide open..what do we talk so much every day till 1.. 2 in the morning as though there is no tomorrow??!!! Well not of course about Women empowerment, but ya about the small little things that make our rented house a home and have given it a soul. Wishing you both nothing but the BEST …in whatever you do..where ever you go. “Even though we're changing and we're all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we'll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we're not all still friends..”

This one goes out for you three and for all the wonderful women in the world…for all those who can dream that there is no such place called as far away.. ( all men please excuse..let me be a little biased here..lol) Directed by my Idol Maniratnam, this Tamil movie “Kannathil Muthamittal” was unbelievably amazing with its amazing story line and the wonderful aspects of womanhood that it had touched. Again , none other than the legend with his ‘Rahmania’ amazed millions with the album that still remains a favourite. Chinmayi you are my adorable darling and will remain so no matter how many singers will come..

PS: My favourite butterfly..Indu…this one for you too…much love
